There are a few. LCAG are doing great work and most you see in the press recently is being done by them. Their aim is to either remove the Loan Charge or at least get it valid from the royal ascent and remove the retrospective. Here is the link - 2019 Loan Charge Action Group (LCAG) - Loan Charge Action Group

You can join LCAG for a one off charge. They are also crowd funding a judicial review. you will find more info on the above link.

I joined a few months back and never regretted it since.

    Hi,

Just wondering, how this is funded? Is there an organization which is doing this? Do they need financial support? Can I become a paid member with them?

    Thanks

There is a legal challenge against the LC and its an excellent one in my opinion. More news will be out over the coming week. Long way to go but its a genuine light and one we should all be delighted to see.

More info over the coming weeks but it was an extremely positive meeting and has provided a real chance of success. Clearly there will be a lot of questions and so LCAG/myself/a n others will be happy to provide answers as and when they arise.

I would suggest being careful with open discussion. Possibly even delete this. Conversations within the LCAG forums should stay within the LCAG forums until the timing is right.

A solicitor usually takes this on if they stand to make some windfall if successful so can you at least tell us what that is in this case? It mentions 'tax' paid or potentially saved - would there be some cut of that?
Seriously? It's clearly a £100 for full membership, nothing to do with any action being taken. No, details can't be shared outside the group for good reason. For most people caught up in this £100 is the least of their worries and LCAG is doing really good work.

    LCAG

Your talking about a membership fee which is completely different and separate from a no-win/no-fee claim action.

Well "we're all in this together", unlike the Tory government that brought this in.

I'm way past scared and just angry. Have been dealing with a family member's third breakdown in a year, while watching the LC tulipstorm approach. We know HMRC's game, we know the government, agencies and scheme providers think we're helpless patsys to take the fall. I disagree and I aim to misbehave (within the law) and at least make them sweat. Why not chip in to both LCAG and Big Group, or anyone else if it turns up the heat on Hector and gives government an additional Brexit hangover. Get your money's worth!

They'll be ready to go soon. Everyone, keep powder dry...personally, I had hoped they do something on a Friday. As a present, if you will, to HMRC and Behavioural Ingrates.

not sure if your question was to me but HMRC are out of time for a lot of 6y old investigations but the LC gives them massive access to info for 20 years that they didn't have before and it just seems to me that they'll look at the info (they otherwise wouldn't have obtained legally but scooped up now with the extraordinary LC2019 declarations) and open investigations on anything interesting.
Add a new 12 year scope for investigations and a lot of closed tax is now up for grabs.
That seems like a secondary negative aspect of the LC that noone seems to have discussed.

I think you would be mad to use a scheme these days given the HMRC's massive power grab and general lies to parliament (even though I still believe the rules should be the rules and if you want to bend them so be it) but I am interested in not reopening things that I think were legal at the time and I think are closed now. At some point even if I have to repay a lot of money Id like to end this and move on with my life, not get older and older investigations added.
Do my summer jobs as a kid get added to this as I'm sure I didn't pay the right tax there...
