It's better than any of the three(!) American copies...
I don't agree that it HAS to be worthless. (And the comments section there is mixed, by the way.)
The reason it might have worked is that Germans are kind of stiffly neurotic, sort of unrelaxed. But so is Basil, isn't he, so that might translate very well.

how about "Die Letzte Bulle"?, bit of a rip off of "Life on Mars", unfortunately my DVD copy doesn't have German subtitles (need subtitles in German as it helps if you don't quite catch a word)
would be interested to know any other suggestions of German TV or podcasts.

Will they be redoing "The Germans"?
[Basil squabbling with the German guests after a bump on the head]:
Basil: Is there something wrong?
German Guest: Will you stop talking about the war?
Basil: Me? You started it.
German Guest: We did not!
Basil: Yes, you did. You invaded Poland.

Only 1 ep was ever shown. And even that is completely and totally impossible to find now.

Think it was canned after two eps....
I get these for my missus who's fluent in German, any recommendations? We got plenty of films, plus Alexanderplatz, Heimat, I'm looking for eps of Lindenstrasse tho!

(* when they originally showed there was no credit to The Office and I remarked on how similar it was. They had apparently plagiarised it and when the BBC found out, they had a fit and now has to say that it was inspired by The Office.)
