He appears to have said something very different in context and I find the Mirror's misquote downright offensive.
We must assume that Schumacher can lead a relatively normal life again within a short period of time," said Todt.

It is understood he remains immobile and unable to speak.

That would be great, and is totally the opposite what I was expecting the next announcement to be... "no news is bad news" was my reading of the situation.

There was an article about that by a doctor - maybe even in this thread - saying that "in a coma" has a very specific medical meaning, and that "not in a coma" does not mean what people think it does.

Mmm. Something just doesn't smell right about this announcement.
I, like many others, believed awakening from a comma was like 28 Days Later / The Walking Dead - a quick bit of fluids to re-hydrate, then you're fit enough to take on a zombie hoard.
But it seems that even in the best cases, it's considerably less pronounced - and being "out of a coma" really doesn't mean all that much in the grand scheme of things - the lights are on, but is anyone home.
Here's hoping for the best though.

He comes out of a coma just in time for Phil Neville's commentary putting him into a new one
