Sure they're over privileged, but the royals bring in a not inconsiderable amount of revenue in tourism.
Quite frankly Her Madge and descendants are a lot less obnoxious than any of the politician tossers that could wind up in any Head of State elected office.
    WHS

She has to keep her mouth shut unlike a president.

Also as it's a job for life* we don't have to keep paying for an additional ex-head of state to have security as well as some ex-government ministers.

*I'm sure she would have had less children if she knew how healthy they would be.

An elderly family friend was burgled just before Christmas last year. I sent a hamper to cheer her up a bit.

I got a phone call thanking me, along with "What do I do with the Bombay mix? Do I use it in a curry?"

    Bless.

It's because she doesn't want to risk eat something an unclean commoner might have touched. It's not about the food being stolen. I hope the officers had a gypsy's first before tucking in.

Isn't that HMRC, rather than HM herself?

Seems a great reason to keep it

Also I never thought I'd [need to] say this, but you wouldn't catch me with by hand in Her Maj's Bombay Mix.
