The trouble is most sellers / garages know that you can reset fault codes with the same tool so not really useful unless the sellers are honest

I was rather tempted by one of these but I got a modern one instead, fearing an older Jag/Daimler might no be the most reliable car around. The most expensive car for me is one that doesn't drive when I need it to.

There you go, sorted. Get one. 4wd, fast (old style Forester), last longer than a Merc. Perfect family car.Originally posted by northernladuk View Post. Apart from that I don't have a scooby...

If you're considering spending £6k on anything with complexity (i.e. most of the barges mentioned so far), spend £50 on a fault code reader first.
Firstly, it will tell you which fault codes the car has triggered which you can compare to service invoices
Secondly, it will pay for itself when negotiating price as you can say that xyz component needs replacing ('cos the computer says so, same as in the dealers).

I'd drive it every day if it's that great. Life's too short to be miserable.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostHonestly? I haven't a bloody clue....
Was looking at more expensive convertibles at the weekend with the idea of getting rid of both but I drove the Zed to work today with hood down and turned up with a grin from ear to ear. Zed has got to stay. Apart from that I don't have a scooby...

No as long as the lights are not engine, transmission or braking related I just ignore the problem till it fixes itselfOriginally posted by sasguru View PostThat's rating the dealer network not the cars ...
You probably see them so often they become mates

The worst part is it normally does.

Actually the Jags have been top of the JD Power survey for a couple of years now and Landy are following up the charts.Originally posted by sasguru View PostIt seems that to make good cars, you need non-British managers.
Land Rover - Jaguar are consistently at the bottom of the stats table which given that you're paying for a so-called "premium" product is a piss-take.
If I was Mr Tata, I'd keep the British designers/boffins and factory workers, but sack the management and replace with Japanese/Koreans/Germans (like at Aston Martin)

There are so few Citroen C6s on the road I doubt you could run a 1 man business as a specialist on them.Originally posted by sasguru View PostAnd you think an Indian Jag is reliable? TBH if you service your cars at the main dealer or specialist who knows what they are doing, most of them will be fine.
