Labelling the 13th floor as "14th" doesn't take away from the fact that it's the 13th floor - it makes as much sense as saying that the 12 disciples plus Jesus equals 14 people just to avoid saying the word "13".
I think you'll find that, due to the Holy Trinity, the 12 disciples plus Jesus equals 15 people

(Tall ones have no floor 13, which at least makes for one less floor to go down when the fire alarm goes off.)
Tall buildings do have a 13th floor, it's just that in many instances it's labelled "14".

In Islamic tradition, 17 is the number of liturgical gestures employed in the 5 daily prayers and it is also the number of words used in the call to prayer.
I know KLM don't and often on larger aircraft row 13 would fall between business and cattle so it's easily omitted. Apparently some now leave out row 17 too.
