    The last time I did it was in 2007. I cynically went perm and extended my offset & took out a £425k mortgage. I didn't actually need a £425k mortgage but thought it would be useful.

    At .48% over base on an offset how right I was proved.

    Now looking to move again.

    I didn't go permie and at the moment I can get a bigger cheaper mortgage using a specialist in contractor mortgages than if I went permie and used a normal broker.

    Not a clue why but I'll make the most of it and pull spare cash out for either repairs or another btl deposit. :

    I don't but as I'm mortgage hunting i read threads about mortgages. In fact the only reason I'm back contracting at the moment is to make getting one slightly easier as the days of Bank Business managers approving mortgages has (sadly) long gone.
