    I am surprised by your surprise, For anyone working longer than 3 months direct to us part of the T&C is that they will have a test & if they fail the offer is terminated. This applies to all staff not just those on site, so HR, admin ICT etc..

    D&A tests are normal in construction regardless of employment status, after finding some “suspicions packages” in the drying room on site we called the nurse in & did a full site drugs test. 5 men are no longer working.

    No animosity, just suggesting that you remember what contracting's like; you wait for a while for a contract, get 'no' for silly reasons from agents and then three opportunities turn up at once.
