Of course, Patenting anything in the the States or here is pointless. Let say you invent an entirely new bag less vacuum cleaner, which after many years research you perfect and Patent. Then they sell like hot cakes and miff your competitors who have been making loads of money out of selling paper bags for inflated prices for years. So they copy you. You drag them through successive courts right up to the US Supreme court, and guess what? Completely innocent.

I fail to see how you can patent the layout of tables in a shop....

ok yes if you deliberatly try and make people think they are in an apple shop buying apple products is one thing but simply laying your goods out in an easy to use format for people and clearly not trying to dupe people is a different kettle of fish altogether.

what next -- a kettle manufacturer trying to patent boiling water?

    the world has gone mad!

Fair point. Is that mixture of "knifing" and "conniving"?

I'm not an Apple fan. But any idiot can see their shops have a distinctive look.

    Sorry, nearly any idiot.

The whole patent system is a shambles, especially the US Patents.

No wonder the Chinese ignore the lot.

You are going to have to say that as if speaking to the somewhat slow (or Suity).
