If someone else who doesn't know you exist has the ability to make your every day wonderful OR terrible, some self-inspection is in order. Your state of being should not be blown hither and thither like a feather in the wind...
... happy people are generally happy even in bad circumstances, miserable people remain miserable even when surrounded by luxury.

This supposes that there is somebody somewhere who has it within their power to make every day wonderful, and if we only elected them instead everything would be brilliant. I don't think that's actually true.Originally posted by escapeUK View PostIt amazes me that the British middle class vote for people who make sure every day is utter tulip.

They also seem to close at 10:00, at least in London.Originally posted by Old Hack View PostIn Surrey, we used a local private A&E, which used to charge £15 up front to see what was wrong with you. Then you obviously got the insurance involved if it was serious, and went home if it wasn't. It worked for us, as there wasn't 25 drunks staggering around threatening everyone, and you had no waiting time (when we used it).
It was a couple of years ago, so prices would have gone up, but it was a very good service.

Poor dearie. Why don't you make your handle a reality since apparently every minute you have to spend here is such obvious torture?Originally posted by escapeUK View PostIt amazes me that the British middle class vote for people who make sure every day is utter tulip.

Some great nurses etc in it, but organisationally the NHS is a total disaster, as both my wife and daughter in law have found recently. You can have an appointment with one department and be asked to report to another for a blood test first, despite the fact that you JUST HAD A F* BLOOD TEST when you attended the department next door on the same morning. Filling in the same forms twice appears to be normal.Last edited by xoggoth; 15 October 2012, 18:00.

It's not a monopoly, private healthcare is availableOriginally posted by DodgyAgent View PostDont anyone dare criticise the NHS. The NHS is like Jimmy Savile - utterly virtuous on the outside. Anyone that dares to challenge it is immediately rubbished and smeared. Yet on the inside exists a monster of a monopoly riddled with inefficiency, restrictive practices and poor service.

NHS is being privatised anyway. Was at Farnham hospital with my mum - nurse told us they're about to become part of 'Virgin Healthcare'.
