    Then I star breaking down the components

    49 -> 7 x 7

    Two 7's gives me 7 + 7 = 14

    14 gives me 1 and 4

    4 can be square rooted to 2 (I ignore -2 for now)

    So I'm left with 1 and 2, which in my head feels ok because I can't break it down further

    I do this all day! ... this is a tiring habit (!!), I have been recommended breathing exercises to reduce it... I've been doing this since my early teens!!
    hmm you are a bit nuts...

    you need to tell yourself that as there are no benefits... do not do it

    Your wife insisted I handled it all in house ... although for a while we did end up in the garden.

    PS Looked it up on Wikipedia and saw that "Symptoms of the disorder include excessive washing". I'm ok then!

    Strange some of the most social people I know (mainly female) are diagnosed OCD suffers, they are not in IT.

    Some others I suspect of harbouring OCD tendencies are also high achievers socially, maybe (like Spacecadet's missus wishes he would) - they try just that little bit harder to be liked.

    I'm pretty geeky but I have never been accused of suffering from OCD.
