I watched that happening at one city finance company. The day to day operations were outsourced to a well known french IT services firm.

The original staff all were all taken on initially, but it didn't take too long before the databases were all operated by their own people in India and the basic lifting and plugging stuff together work was being done by ICT people from India.
yep hold the wages down, make it uncomfortable and backfill with el cheapos.

Yes, that's the first step to being replaced later usually - TUPE is a bit TUliPE when it comes to securing jobs in long term.

Don't know if anyones posted this, but we love to get stuck into really misguided decisions to outsource, don't we?

Yes, but the difference is that for a US or Canadian company might be most cost effective to train and have local work force where as a Chinese company would be better off flying their own staff.

The US refuse to have Huawei in their core ATM network as they have a habit of "snooping" and monitoring.

Hmm, not the case with the 2 phone companies I've worked for - but then I don't treat the EU as outsourcing, since we're supposed to have freedom of movement etc.

But china or anyone outside the EU, is a step too far.

Given the stories I've heard about the state of these systems when they arrive "pre-configured" you really want to leave them to it.
