    I used to get white cotton shirts from them for wearing at clients where dark suits and white shirts were standard attire. 100% cotton was a pig to iron, but they looked good.

    Then in the early 90s they stopped selling them. "No call for them sir".

    Yours truly visited the trusty gents outfitter who had supplied my first interview suit. He said the manufacturers were spinning the same tale, and reckoned he could sell any he could get hold of twice over to folks like me. He sorted me out and I never bothered with M&S for shirts again. Those MS shirts weren't cheap but I didn't mind paying for the quality.
