    Yes, you may get malvare, spyware, viruses and downtime on a daily basis on M$ Windows but at least it's commercially supported unlike Linux which, despite being malvare-, spyware-, virus- and downtime-free, is not commercially supported...

    It seems Exploit.Drop variants can arrive via email and IM, in addition to compromised web sites. Sure you didn't get a bit too excited about the "pics" attached to that email from [email protected]?

    FWIW, Malwarebytes has been known to show false positives for at least one Exploit.Drop variant.

    I'm still digging around trying to find out more about it…

    Methinks a virtual machine to surf in might be an answer.

    One that doesn't have any writeable shared folders accesible too.

    I had some virus try to land itself in the Dropbox directory of an XP system. Dropbox got deinstalled from that system sharpish.
