The thing with these 'Wow, how did he know?! He was so ahead of his time!' prediction news stories is that any old crazy with a good imagination can take a look at emerging technologies and popular science fiction and extrapolate them into future possibilities. Half of them don't come true and are forgotten but the half that do are suddenly oracular prophecies and the crazy man is a genius.
