    I spent some time as a toolmaker many years ago and sharpening milling tools, drills and reamers was a speciality, I could do that in an hour tops.

    I tried one of those clip on type cylinder mower sharpener devices. Provided you take a good deal of care setting it up it actually worked OK. I stress the setting up though, it must be absolutely spot on to the blade edge or it just rips up the sharpening medium.

    Doesn't sound like he was bulltulipting you at all
