Hadn't heard the charges were dropped, but the whole thing did sound like the plot of a film - suddenly his credit card stops working, he's forced to go on the run when framed for a false allegation, and ends up in a gun battle.

Yes, it was so obviously a frame up, especially after all that Afghanistan material recently posted on Wikileaks.
