These days I see young people who want a career in IT and claim to be able to 'program' in HTML. They appear to be able to do little more than than download hacks and keygens.
Where would a young person who wanted to get into programming in a simple but fun way start? Perhaps Microsoft SmallBASIC?
There is also the lego mindstorm which can be programmed from a desktop computer

but they took catridges.....
so no more loading and watching the hexidecimal count go up (i am sure Elite went up to 44F)
it was like having an arcade machine in the bedroom
although Sam Fox strip poker failed to raise well anything really.......
