I am a permie and I am unable to comprehend why a permie would be rude to a fellow worker for no apparent reason.

Either
1) You are superior to him and are you rub it in to him
2) He is superior to you and he detests working with you.

I take the opposite approach - behind every all-capitals rant from an end user there may be (to paraphrase RC) chest potatoes and stiletto FMBs in need of a soothing word directly from the developer . . .

Just had a chat with another member of staff showing me an email from a permie with a torrent of abuse in capital letters. Must be something in the water at the minute!
