Are they going to give you a lot of facts and figures about their business and ask you to analyse it to tell them where their business is going?
OR
Are they going to ask you to sit down with some users and review business processes so as to allow either new system to be built of for existing systems and processes to be tweaked??

The splitting of analysis from programming was carried out by the large consultancies, who found that people who could program were too clever by half, and no manager could understand what they were doing. this inevitably lead to the large consultancies promoting offshoring and outsourcing of the technical work - the stuff that actually requires skill. This lead to an overall decrease in quality of development, hence more work for the consultancies.

Just describe everything in terms of outcomes for the business, they don't give a tulip that you're speccing a change to boost the database performance by 30% - they just need to know they get to finish work 20 minutes earlier.
