    It seems to me, *every* lift in America (if all the movies I've seen are to be believed), have a 'stop' button or switch, which will stop the thing mid-floor, for a barney or some romance to take place.

    I've never seen a stop button in a lift!

    Some blocks of flats in Earls Court have a lift which only goes to the top floor if the owner of the flat occupying the whole top floor inserts a key, and then they can step practically straight into their sitting room. How cool is that?

    It's that bug your damn time machine that you won't fix. The lift is getting a request for a floor form some other time.

    I keep telling you to get it fixed before someone gets hurt. It might (have been, or will be) you.
