Don't really do self help books, but whilst on holiday myself, Mr P & Pogle Jr came up with the idea for one of those awful management style books and much hilarity ensued ... you had to be there I guess

Actually, now you come to mention it ..

Xenophon And The Art Of Horsemanship is quite incredible. He was describing the training of horses for war but when you study it, it describes a lot of the (very) modern thinking around the breaking-in (hateful term) of riding horses.

I knew there was a reason I liked Xeno

You didn't specify they had to be from the last two centuries.
Oh yes. I'd not considered 'The art of War', by Sun Tzu. Yes, an excellent book.

If we are on those lines, 'The Prince', by Nicolò Machiavelli is a good read too.

Have ago with Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tzu. A bit leftie for my tastes.

Fantastic read, bet you got some dice out whilst reading it? Didn't enjoy The Search for Dice Man so much though.

Read this book at Uni, really prepared me for contracting.

    Death march By Edward Yourdon

Talked to a contracter friend recently, we have been on several projects together, in different parts of the world. He asked "What are we doing wrong, why do we end up on sh1t projects" Reply "We are contractors, permie's don't want to ruin their careers"

I went through a phase of trying to follow 'Getting things done' by David Allen.

I made some improvements at the time, but it has all gone to pot. Maybe I should have another go.
