It probably works out cheaper than paying JSA or IB.

The trouble is that Gordon Brown actually believes this !!

Well I know people on NSK and TRW and they have both been making people redundant recently.

Guess the only thing left in the north east now is petrochemical and I heard Huntsman pushed most of their IT out to Europe.

Recently, the mayor of Newcastle has had to answer to allegations that Newcastle, as a city, was extremely homophobic.

His statement said: "I can specifically state that Newcastle is not homophobic and does indeed have a large and thriving gay community. It's called Sunderland."

I think the NE does have some industry left that actually makes things, a couple were on Working Lunch before Christmas saying there was a lot more interest from Europe.

    Hi,

Not good - we heard this afternoon.

Not sure if it will affect IT / IS in the near future?

I'm okay so far - doing compliance work.

A lot of us are involved in European work not just UK.

The way things are going, the north east won't be a good source of employment for anyone. There is only yhe public sector left and I've a feeling they are going to find it hard going. Councils will find that their income from business rates will be cut right back.
