Given that customs officers have a "rubber-glove" sense of humour, was that entirely wise?

Was this on returning from America by any chance?Originally posted by HRH View PostAs a matter of fact I do and enjoy a lot of his work. I once used his quote when flying back to Manchester after one of my jaunts. "I have nothing to declare except my genius"
America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.

Allegedly Oscar, according to the local faux-oirish pub I saw it scrawled in. Either way, I rather like the point.

He forgot to mention that while in the US (and other countries) most companies offer a free number for sales and services - in the UK you have a choice of either a 0870 or 0845. And what other government in the world does the same - ie: charge you VAT to call them?
I think we make other people around the world wonder how we live. My brother-in-law laughs at me from his posh job in NY. though he still thinks this is a socialist society. I tell him...it isn't but you're taxed and treated as if it is.
I just got my gas bill the other day...the company has doubled he monthly direct-debit. Not just a small increase...but doubled. Then council tax is up, food is up, taxes up, corporate tax up...I could go on. Oh woe is us.

I was apologising for getting the price of petrol in the US too low. not too high.
It not only blows your post out of the water, it stacks it neatly on the beach
