    They won't drop to £1

1/ their loan book is worth at least £2 per share
2/ the fundamentals of the business are ok
3/ one of the respected hedge fund mangers is betting £50 million on a rally
4/ these things always get overdone in a panic, see sept 11th share prices
5/ they arent being slated on the TV all the time now
6/ they are starting to rally today

Indeed. Make sure you buy at least 26% of the shares, then you don't have to sell at £1.

For a bank to buy NR at £1 a share, 75% of the shareholders have to agree that that is an acceptable price and then that is what the value of your shares will be too.

    Is this a trick question??

OK, quick question. If I buy shares at say £1.50, and then one of the big banks come along and buys out the bank for say the equivilant of £1/share, what happens to the value of my shares?

Never set your limits at round numbers. Buy at 1.01 instead.

LloydsTSB & HBOS were rumoured to be offering £1 @share for a takeover - that might be the floor on the share price
