I was on holiday in Wales in 2022 and got chatting to the local butcher about the drought. He said he remembered 1976 and it was way worse than 2022. All the water was turned off, but men were still working in the coal pits in those days. They came home at the end of the day completely black with coal dust head to toe and they had no water to wash in, a situation that went on for months.Originally posted by jamesbrown View PostBack in my day, we used to dream a having the luxury of a drought. We were so poor, we lived in a lake, but not a proper lake, mind, it were a big puddle and it weren’t filled wi water neither, that were slurry and we were grateful for it.

You've all been warned.
1976
1983
1990
1997
2004
2011
2018
2025
Not all of those are drought years, and some that were were more severe than others. 1976 famously was. 2011/18/25 have all been. 83/90/97/04 were not exactly on those years, things shifted maybe a year either side, and whatever droughts were not bad. But there is definitely a strong cycle of 7 years to it.
2022 was a particularly strong drought. A bit out of sequence.

No particular reason, the doylems just look shifty out that way.
Anyway, as long as we stick to supping our beer and leave water for the sheep, we'll be reyt.
