I suspect that it has more to do with the recent airing of the new series of Clarkson's farm where the piglets die, showing his softer side.

How do you beat off someone with a pitchfork? As an American, that sounds really uncomfortable. Especially if Clarkson is holding the pitchfork, it might take a loooong time to get done.
