If you are in Tier 4, you should not be travelling abroad unless it is permitted. In addition, you should consider the public health advice in the country you are visiting.

I'm in a similar situation to these, currently sitting in vigil of my wife who has been slowing passing away this past 2 weeks. Her 2 best friends did manage to come and spend some time with her; they've left now but no one else has been allowed to visit, and now no one will. We're not sure she'll make it to the 25th (it's her 51st birthday on the 27th too) not that Xmas will have any joy anyway this year (she always bought the fun to the day and decorated the house so nicely).
Sorry, bit of ramble, just having a moment. I'll be my usual annoying twunt self later.

Tier 4: Stay at Home - GOV.UK
I can still get a takeaway so all is not lost.
Garden centres and Christmas tree retailers are allowed to stay open.
Places of worship also still allowed. I always worship crimbo dinner as others make it so that's me sorted.
I don't expect the fuzz to have roadblocks on the motorways or covid wombles knocking door-to-door, so just get on with whatever one has planned, it will definitely be more sensible than any bollox the government think up.
This nonsense of arbitrary rules not backed by science will be ongoing for most of next year as even with all these miracle vaccines (if they are as effective as hoped) the sheer logistics and global demand means it will be arriving in a dribble for the UK. Expect some excuse for lack of progress once the yanks and other big players snaffle the supply.

England's new Covid restrictions likely to stay 'for months' until vaccine rollout | World news | The Guardian
New lockdown restrictions imposed on Saturday on millions of people may have to remain in place for several months until vaccines have been rolled out across the UK, the health secretary has said.
...
On Sunday, Matt Hancock said additional restrictions for England announced by the prime minister on Saturday may have to remain for “the next couple of months” while a vaccine is rolled out.
“What is really important is that people not only follow them [the new rules] but everybody in a tier 4 area acts as if you have the virus to stop spreading it to other people,” he told Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme.
