Looking at the google map of covid cases in the last 14 days it seems the west, America (the continent) and India are tulip at handling it and the rest of the world are doing much better, gauging by the size of the circles.

India has excuses e.g. lots of people who live in overcrowded conditions there as the US is just tulip.

Also looking at cases per thousand or million people is useless as some countries e.g. Sweden aren't doing lots of testing there as others e.g. Slovenia are.

Even China where it all starrted only have 300 odd cases. Maybe they're welding people into their homes again to contain it.

If only we were an island nation and could do a NZ. Rolling lockdowns are more damaging than close all borders, eradicate, and do a proper track and trace of manageable outbreaks.

The number of cases isn't the important statistic in terms of health impact, it's number of hospitalisations and deaths. So if the virus has mutated to a less serious strain then the more cases the better as it gets you to 'herd immunity' faster so it's harder to spread to the vulnerable.

It ain't going away and the sooner it reaches status of just another coronavirus we live with year in year out the better. Suppressing transmission hoping it goes away won't work unless doing that until a vaccine is available for the masses. NZ are in that boat hoping nothing sinks it.

Any word how Sweden and other non-bedwetting countries are fairing in comparison to the 'keep em scared, everyone's going to die' European countries?
