How else do you think they are going to pay back their pals they gave the Covid contracts to?

Can easily see the £2k tax free dividends getting scraped. They will argue, that’s what an ISA is for.

Next year dividends will be taxed at income tax bands, without tax credit from corp tax, which will go up.Originally posted by eek View PostIR35 is about protecting the £70bn that is employer NI - nothing is going to stop them protecting that.
That will sort it out, but they won't give IR35 up because nobody can be allowed to beat the Treasury, nobody I say!!!

I particularly like this bit:
However it is worth destroying the IT contractor sector with IR35?
It's clear this Tory govt are only interested in destroying small businesses.

No one in the right mind would go after huge corps that have huge legal depts ready to absolutely destroy whatever accusations you send their way and most likely humiliate you in the process. Much easier to bully tiny businesses, especially considering HMRC lack of understanding of their own rules.

String pulling requires power and power requires money (or other forms of bribery/blackmail as a pressure). You ain't gonna see that from small/medium business. So suck it up, either get large enough to wield the power or play to their rules and keep an eye out for the loopholes you can fit through.
Some thought it was a comedy, but Only Fools and Horses (work) was a reminder. You don't look much like a horse so ...
If you play their game and lose there's always cardboard city. It's the only affordable housing they offer.

You get what you voted for. You won, get over it. Sunny uplands ahoy!

The Tories have never been supporters of small businesses, they favour corporates and multinationals. Legislation and taxation suppresses small and encourages corporates to crush business. As an example, independent petrol stations are put under immense pressure either to stop trading or sell up to one of the major supermarkets or petroleum companies. It is amazing what concessions are given by both national and local government to major supermarkets or petroleum companies.Originally posted by _V_ View PostAmazon will NOT be impacted by GBP500m digital services tax - but smaller retailers will be | Daily Mail Online

Any extra tax on big marketplace will obviously be passed down the chain

Why do you think Sunak left a glittering Financial Services career to work in the Treasury? Public service?
