I always have my mobile on silent. I'll check my phone when I'm ready thank you. Occasionally I might just play my ringtone for the hell of it.

That's a good point. I think I'll bring an egg timer into client co, and try it on the bloke on my left. See whether I get a slapOriginally posted by original PM View PostYou know calling someone on the phone is incredible rude
Imagine if you wanted to talk to someone sat next to you - do you sit there making a loud ringing noise until they give you some attention?
Unbelievable.

Well normally one can bellow "advisor" a few times and be put through to a human.Originally posted by PhiltheGreek View PostIf one ignores the questions then quite often the system defaults to putting the call through to a human when it doesn't receive an instruction. ..
But I wouldn't try that at your place, or a couple of advisors will rush into the room to see if they can help!

Airline checkin/bag drop queues as well. What are they talking about?Originally posted by Old Greg View PostGood idea. In a similar vein, ATMs, post offices, banks etc. should have a separate queue for people who want to **** about rather than just get in with it.

That way the phone would know to maximise the number keypad on the display without the user having to press a button to do this. Drives me potty having to do it each time, and more than once I've accidently disconnected the call!

Good idea.
I would add to that having a button you can press to punch the human being behind the call, and get them to pick up the phone.

Just have your mobile pause a second or two before entering more digits? That's what I do when I'm using my mobile to dial in to conf bridges.Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostWhy can't mobile phone operators agree on a standard short warbling sound, or even better if it is possible an inaudible control signal, to instruct one's mobile that the current call is to a menu system and will require the caller to type input, generally numbers?
