    Ungrateful sods you lot!

With Fifa looking to expand the number of teams qualifying, from the current 32 to 48 by as early as 2022, you may not have to save for that much longer.

Downside being that due to previous 'shenanigans' the 2022 World Cup is in Qatar where gingers will burn to a crisp as soon as they step off the plane. Sod's law.

This just really leaves England so looking for advice on how to fit in with the Mob?

I know an England fan who goes to most world cups and most European championships. No way is he going to Russia. Far too dangerous.

I'm going to the World Cup to support England. That is, the cricket World Cup which takes place in England next summer. I've already applied for tickets to Lord's, Edgbaston and Old Trafford plus the final. Can't wait.

Argentina V England would be a tough call right enough.

A bit like deciding between Tony Blair and David Cameron.

So, if you were an Everton fan, would you support Liverpool in Euro competition ?

If you were a Man Ure fan, would you support City in Europe ?

Does that mean that you hate Liverpool and Manchester and all the people within ? (OK, maybe a bad example).

'Hating The English' doesn't come into it. I think I even openly had a friend that was kinda English once. Enjoying seeing them lose at football/rugby/cricket/tiddlywinks etc does not constitute 'hate' unless you read the Mail or The Express.

Probably less embarrassing for Tarby to agree his account was hacked than claim authorship for the posts.

Although I can't imagine Tarby blushing!

I was unlucky enough to visit Russia for nearly a month, 2 years ago.

I would not recommend visiting now. The west is not an enjoyable experience. Saint Petersburg has some great sights, but there is not a good feeling about Russia now internationally and they deserve to lose money on this world cup. Just how it is still progressing is beyond comprehension.

If you must go avoid Moscow and try to visit the second tier cities and towns, as those are the most interesting. As Russia is large, the far east is worth seeing and that is the area I enjoyed the most. Given the span of the country, the diversity of food is not as you would expect, but the attitudes of the people are very diverse.

If you are planning to go simply to see the football, don't bother. Rubbish bier, expensive accommodation and questionable security services are the least of your worries. Russia is a place to visit the smaller areas of, not the big cities.

As an aside, the Russian film "Stalker" (1979) is worth watching. I watched it before visiting and thought it to be trashy. After visiting Russia it made a lot more sense and I now see why it won as many accolades as it did.
