she accused him of sexual assault, she quite reasonably has a right to anonymity. Now why he doesn't is the issue. If they want to reveal someone's identity in such a case they should apply to a judge.

Legal reasons. It might help if they said what those legal reasons were. She could have some sort of learning disability, or be in a public position likely to cause her embarrassment. Or it might be because she is a victim and therefore has the right to anonymity. Anyways, the comments section of the paper I linked the original article from has her named by, I assume, one of the defendant's buddies.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostThey've found him not guilty of whatever offence playing with a ladies bottom is. The offence was, appropriately enough, Assault.

That's how it's supposed to work, but we'll see. He'll probably get ten years. I mean not that I'm bothered one way or another, that's just his hard luck.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIf he'd have been fined a tenner when the event took place, then he'd be given the same sentence today. You always get the punishment according to sentencing guidelines at the time.
But dredging up cases from that long ago which were considered pretty trivial at the time is just surreal, and so obviously has an ulterior political motive rather than any genuine concern for justice.

Why do you think some old guy was recently prosecuted for indecent assault on a teenage boy 60 years ago, when he'd have probably been fined a tenner if he'd been convicted at the time?

Don't tell OwlHoot but, before curtains were invented, a similar incident in a cave resulted in the drawing he's trying to decypher.
Anyway, I bet this bloke feels like an arsehole now.
