I see this place has not changed much
a healthy mix of humour and advice.
I worked in Munich for many years , I guess climate is not too dissimilar i.e hot summers and freeeeezing winters, which they deal with a lot better than over here
It will be interesting for sure and I hope I have as good a time as I did in Munich.
Keep the advice coming .... and the gags

Vienna was July - September this year.
Both Rennaisance hotels are nice - Holiday Inn slightly more central with good staff but the room may not be as good.
Beyond that and the fact uber is an option there I can't give you much advice as I wasn't looking to do things cheap.

Spiritually, I am Viennese.Originally posted by GJABS View PostYou'll need to learn the lyrics off by heart:
We walked in the cold air
Freezing breath on a window pane
Lying and waiting
A man in the dark in a picture frame
So mystic and soulful
A voice reaching out in a piercing cry
It stays with you until
The feeling has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
The music is weaving
Haunting notes, pizzicato strings
The rhythm is calling
Alone in the night as the daylight brings
A cool, empty silence
The warmth of your hand and a cold grey sky
It fades to the distance
The image has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
This means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna

I was in Wien with Mrs Benes and the children at the end of October.
Great trip and I thoroughly recommend it including the hotel, Wien is beautiful.

You've come to the right place. There are loads of Wieners around here.
You're not one of these lads are you? In my experience they don't typically turn out to be long term gigs. Think cycanide, bunkers and wondering what the Russian for 'have you asked your accountant' might be.

Vienna Advice
Hello everyone
I am starting in January on a "hopefully" long term contract , but then again I was on the IBM/RBS contract and some will probably know how that ended
Any tips about Vienna would be useful, anyone out there at the moment ? I would like to find somewhere to share for the first month or so until payday !! I have worked in Germany a lot in the 1990s/2000s and speak the Lingo, also visited Austria and Switzerland so know the accents etc
I used to be on here a lot many many years ago, and recognise a few old names !
The site has expanded a lot and I will probably spent all the next few weeks getting info from here.
Cheers for now, or should that be Prost
