Very clear they want to issue Visa's because the EU are leaving them to flounder.

The upshot is they will be able to travel across the Schengen area and wait to get to the UK via the back of a lorry. Or travel to countries other than Italy and accelerate the EU's demise by sheer weight of numbers.

Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostNo idea, but I understand they only have to remain in the EU for a certain time (five years?), keeping their nose clean, after which they automatically qualify for EU citizenship.
Also, this report was released today:
2017-07-17 The outlook for EU migration if the UK remains subject to the free movement of people
Haven't read it in detail yet, but presumably it is pertinent to this discussion.

It is not as rosy as all that - and it highlights the obvious problem - those law abiding immigrants who actually pose no threat and could do some good for the country are the ones being deported as they are the ones who tell the truth and turn up for interview etc.
The dodgy feckers just stay below the radar, live under false names etc.

eight years of legal residence, although this is shorter for spouses of German nationals. It also requires oral and written German language skills, a clean criminal record and a commitment to respecting the German constitution. In general, those applying for naturalisation must also give up their foreign nationality.
