Actually we can control immigration from Europe. Unfortunately as the Home Office can't even kick out non-EU people with no right to stay in a timely fashion then then they had to blame the EU for their feck up.

You will still be able to travel and stay in a lot of countries on your EU passport. Time to become a nomad developer, work remotely, and move from one country to another every 2-3 months.

No I'm applying for permanent visa (189). Time to leave where it's stable so I don't need to worry about not being rich in few years....

I always thought the reason they banged on about the "Australian points based system" was because that was the only system of managing immigration that they had heard of. Seems I was right.
