If you're going from 20,000 outside to 5,000 outside and the rest taking dole to avoid retrograb, then in theory you're generating 10k extra for the 5,000 but losing 15,000 lots of tax that was being paid at the outside IR35 level plus having to provide these people with social support.

Losing 15,000 lots of tax but saving 15,000 lots of salary.

And that's assuming that the 15,000 aren't replaced with other inside IR35 contractors, employees, or Crapita consultants, all of whom will pay tax.

The real issue with all this is nothing to do with tax and everything to do with the Public Sector losing expertise. It then easily costs more than it saves. As with most things in today's politics it's a symbolic political gesture that simply hasn't been thought through. But that's what the public likes these days.

Who are all these people who are going to go on the dole - PS contractors or other people? Why are they doing that and where is this information coming from; is it legit from a recognised source or total supposition from a few on CUK?

It's me giving an example of what could happen. Then again, if they have their head in the sand, HMRC could well bring in the amount that we thought was a fantasy via a retrograb.

Surely everyone in the public sector earns more than they do on the dole so that's a win.

But with Brexit the one thing nobody should be worrying about is public sector jobs. Clearly we're going to need a load more people in the public sector, which in turn means a load less to pay for everything.

If this government are making it worse than the previous Labour government did, maybe a new LAbour government would focus on taxing the rich not specifically the non-employed?

New Lie opened the Bob floodgtes. They took up IR35. Its difficult to see how a new Labour government would be any better.

Tax Burden is the highest for 30 years and people are paying it. If Labour's politics of envy were allowed most of the big fish would move abroad leading to the lower downs paying more tax.

What this Government needs to do is stop hemorrhaging money.

It's poor that Labour doesn't really get that hitting wealth & job creators will just disincentivise them. I suppose they still think that everyone should be employed by the honest-and-true public sector and not the tax-avoiding scumbags of the private sector.
