Fair point. electrolytics don't like heat, they'll dry out and stop being capacitors.

Would it not be worth looking at getting the PCB repaired by a specialist? Most of the time it'll be a capacitor or 2 that'll need replacing rather than any of the chips. A friend repairs my heater control PCB every few years, they stopped making parts for it years ago.
