Maybe tomorrow, you could make up a more positive event, like you totally saved a failing project with just five minutes of your input, twenty minutes after you logged on. What time is Episode 2 going to be out ?

I'll join those saying it's fairly typical. If anything, it's slightly better than the last gig but one, where I was told to bring my own laptop. On the first day we stopped off at the IT service desk on the way from reception to pick up a username and password for the wifi, as that was all they could manage at short notice

Back into IT. Technically my first time in an IT department for 9 years(I always worked in the business with IT).
Turned up. Hiring manager was ill. Got there early. Had to wait in reception for over an hour & half before someone else was found.
Laptop with no software.
No desk, had to camp in the kitchen.
5 day Service Requests to get the right software.
No documentation, or access to it. (read the WIKI and website)
Nobody to shadow (got one person for 30 minutes).
Lunch on own, crap sandwich.
Did induction and shot off earlyish.
It's no good not being important. Sigh.
Keep invoicing. Sigh.
