One wonders if any of this "retained data" has proved useful in preventing us suffering the sort of terror attacks that seem so prevalent in other parts of the EU that are more "liberated"?

Wasn't it Sturgeon's idea to have a named person to spy on people's children in Scotland and then report the number of fried Mars bars they had each week to the social services?
