Registered office is for the company. You can now set up a service address for the director, but that's not the same thing.

My residential address is on there, as is the month and year of my birth (but not the date - phew).

Searching for me by name shows my current address and previous address from ten years hence, though as that was a different company it doesn't connect the two as the same person.

I looked up the band members of my fav band this way. Using their production companies of which the band members are directors. Of the band most were registered via various management, accountants, legal team etc addresses except one member who just uses he own main residential address. Only a bit of fun for me really. But since they all have multiple addresses in multiple countries, and where these are is mostly easily determined from the fan network I don't think any attempt to hide their addresses is worth the hassle.

The vast majority of information registered with us is available on the public register.
Some information (for example, residential addresses and full dates of birth) aren’t
part of the public register, but are shared with specified public authorities and credit
    reference agencies (CRAs).

Wow, it only takes a few of those to sneak through and you could be retiring to Panama in next to no time. I sense a plan B.

I understand the need for directors to be subject to scrutiny, but surely they could make it a little harder for people to get all that data?
