Not if you own a share of the freehold like my other half.Originally posted by RetSet View PostThat's how flats work.
How come you didn't know that already?
Oh, and how long do you have left on the lease?

The good news is that the freehold will be passed to new management company where I get a share, so I'll be 1/8th landlord

Service charges can occur even on freeholds although they will ideally run open-book and not-for-profit. This model seems more common in Scandinavia where each street collectively owns their management company (or collective as one might call it!)Originally posted by sasguru View PostWhy on earth are you buying a leasehold property?
In a couple of years you'll be on here saying how they've doubled the service charge
