Apparently the missus and I were the only people who ever had the full tasting menu for lunch and then asked for an additional cheese course each. Ground floor, eat at the bar is my tip.Originally posted by chef View PostGf chef and I went to "L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon" 2 weeks ago in between seeing 'Miss Saigon' and 'War horse'. Both shows and the food were superb. You will need to book in advance for the restaurant though, definitely worth it. Outstanding food.

I'd say go to Belgo Centraal and hop in a cab if need be, or stroll down.
All the pre show clutter restaurants have no pause between courses. It is not a pleasant eating experience.

Yes, that was my point. Complaining about tourists in London when you're going to the theatre seems a little silly.

So you are a tourist too.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIt's London. Practically everyone is a tourist. Most of us who work there don't live there either.

The West End is a tourist infested tulip hole. Take sandwiches.

Been there done that.
Brasserie Zedel gets my vote.
Nearest thing to France in London, right in theatre district, quality reasonable menu, top class cocktail bar attached.

+1 for Hawksmoor. But as SMc says, if it's a special evening you don't want to feel rushed.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostThat might be better, means you can take your time over dinner, last time I did dinner and theater I was looking at my watch thinking "do we have time for pudding" and you can get absolutely trollied!

I'll shell out for a hotel if it's going to make it way more relaxed. We so very rarely get a night off from the kids. I'm also considering a Saturday matinee followed by a meal in the evening.
