On CWjobs, the ratio of perm to contract roles is about 10. Probably the same for other engines. One contract for every 10 perm roles. Sheesh.

Mine are all from agents asking me if I'm available, don't bother with any job sites now - except for stuff abroad if I fancy it next time....
Just had one for Moscow, (proper) Unix guru, £900 a month, fook dat!!!

Monster is a bit poor these days. Indeed still worth it, despite all the irrelevant sponsored jobs that appear in your search results. Glassdoor rubbish for contractors. A quick email to former clients/agents probably good, if only to tell them you are immediately available.
