In 1996 I was temping as an accounts assistant at Nike in the South East, working next to a couple of IT contractors (can't recall what they worked on). I was getting paid £5/hour and the IT contractors told me they were on £40/hr.

Always got me thinking, they were getting £70k+ a year in 1996. They could have bought a decent 3 bed semi every year at that rate at that time (the same kind of house is now £450k).

Noob question but what's a bobco?

A company who generally employ Indians on a work permit.

The 'bob' is a homage to a poster in here called bob shawadiwadi who was a caricature if an Indian software developer

Took a contract at AB Automotive at £13/hr back in September 2001.

Having endured that for 7 months I was back up to a proper rate on the next one.
