Hope you are well. I wondered if I might be able to interest you in a new 12 month contract opportunity that I have for a Linux/Virtualisation Administrator.

My client, who is one of the largest computer companies in the world, is seeking an experienced individual to join their team and are offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work from home or remotely on a year-long basis (with the option to extend beyond this) at a rate of £15/hour (apologies if your rate is generally higher than this).

In order to qualify, you would need to be based anywhere in the EU and possess the following qualities:

At least 4 years’ experience in Red Hat Linux
At least 2 years’ experience in VMware and Virtualisation Technologies
At least 2 years’ experience in IT Security Compliance
At least 2 years’ experience in system management/monitoring tools
At least 2 years’ experience in operating systems services (NTP, DNS, SMTP)
English: Fluent

It is a great opportunity for an individual looking to work from home and to have one of the largest IT organisations in the world on their CV.

Good try, but, he fails a couple of the core, prerequisite, competencies:-

I don't get why if the 'global client' is paying such a cr@p rate they are going via an agency to fill the role, cr@p rate - agency margin =

£15 an hour as a contractor probably is on a par with flipping burgers @ Maccie D's if you factor in the permie benefits.

Took a contract at AB Automotive at £13/hr back in September 2001.

Having endured that for 7 months I was back up to a proper rate on the next one.

I was on £18.85 an hour in 1994, my first proper IT contract, previous 4 years I was contracting in an bummer sort of way, i.e. fecking no idea what I was doing....

God knows what I did with the tax money lol!!
