Think the funniest thing mine has done is over-estimated her leaping prowess, and ended up crashing into a cupboard, falling straight to the ground. I was worried about her knocking the TV down, but she's very careful around screens of any kind. It's wires she loves wrecking.
If you really want a specific breed then try the breed organisations or cat rescue. There are plenty of cats that need a good home without going to a breeder.
Maincoons are lovely cats but can be prone to heart disease because of their size (it's what happened to ours) and the fur has a life of it's own.
My understanding is that that is something breeders can prevent through proper screening.
Just get a normal cat. Our neighbours have two Persians and they have vet bills that would bankrupt the Sultan of Brunei. They can scarcely breathe, need expensive grooming and have tulip loads of other congenital defects. Our last cat only visited the vet once to have his jingle bells lopped off and made it to 17 years. The cat was also free as the pub landlord needed to get rid of a lot of kittens and didn't have a spare sack.
