I wasn't charged for the upgrade. But I could not continue with the installation without a valid apple id and cc details. I tried a few things off the internet but nope had to enter a valid credit card.

I found it a bit of pain to upgrade my 2009 mbp - i could not install it without putting in my credit card details.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostNot sure what all these M$ people are complaining about, OSX 10 just works each and every time, same as every OS update for Mac

Lucid Chart is worth a look. Free version limits the number of objects you can use but is enough to decide if it's what you need.Originally posted by eek View PostWhat's a decent visio replacement?
Monthly or annual subscription model. Works out at around £4 a month. Plenty of storage in the cloud.
Saying that, I dont do hugely copmplex diagrams, just soem basic flow charts and architecture diagrams but it works nicely for me.
Paid for itself in the first document I produced with it.

+1. Omnigraffle compares fine against Visio 2007 against Visio 2013 it has an awful lot to improve... I did fear that it would be the recommendationOriginally posted by stek View PostHate to say it, but not ever having had to do diagrams and being a Machead, I tried Omnigraffle and found it useless whereas the same with Visio I was banging out pointless network/DR/Environment designs for management in no time.
One up for MS...

Fusion Pro can do a basic vsphere...Originally posted by SimonMac View PostThe point of Bootcamp is to allow the companies that are too lazy to make a OSX version of their software
If you want Windows, but a wintel machine, if you buy a Mac, use it as a Mac! I use a Mac, and the only piece of software I have not found a way to get working on Mac, or a suitable alternative is vCentre, and thats because they are moving to a web based application (although ClientCo refused to use it)

Although these days less and less requires it, virtualisation tech is incredible.

They could always buy a windows machine run hyper V and run whatever operating systems they want on top even OS X, rather than run the Windows version Apple will allow them toOriginally posted by DaveB View PostWell if they hadn't bothered to check the thing they were buying would actually do what they wanted it to do it's pretty much their own fault. Like buying a cheap Windows laptop and being dissapointed it won't let you run multiple VM's on it.
