shop around you can get pretty good cheap food, even the occasional treat.

Family Bargains were doing 39p nuke in the bag Indian meals, all healthy (veg & herbs) and quite tasty. tend to have them for lunch.

Fresh meat & veg pop to any supermarket at 8pm for reduced Aisle.

If/when I was on even a decent £30k salary I would consider spending £5 on lunch every day a ridiculous luxury - that's 10% or more of what you're going to earn in a low-paid job! Or maybe I'm just tight

I take your point that some sort of carrot can be very motivational though... for many a McD for lunch would be the highlight of their day.

I made a steak and kidney pie with boiled spuds for me and the missus last weekend.
£7 for all the ingredients and it lasted 2 days

allowance for food, they don't need to spend it on food, basically a £5 a day bonus for working.

And no you dont have to buy food when your in work. Take sandwiches.

it was a concession to make it slightly more bearable.£5 a day is hardly unreasonable for workfare attendees.
