London landmark Centre Point, which stood vacant for a decade, is set to become the latest home for the world's super-wealthy after property group Almacantar unveiled plans to build apartments worth up to £50m at the site.
The distinctive 385ft tall building in Oxford Street was one of the capital’s first skyscrapers when it was completed in 1966 but has a chequered history.
Now Almacantar is helping meet soaring demand for super-prime city centre homes by building 82 apartments in the 33-storey tower, comprising of 16 one-bedroom, 37 two-bedroom, 26 three-bedroom, two four-bedroom and one five-bedroom flats.
Prices have not been released for the homes but The Telegraph understands that Almacantar will be looking to sell the five-bedroom apartment for up to £50m. One-bedroom apartments nearby are currently on sale for more than £1m, while a three-bedroom property is listed for £2m.
An additional 13 affordable homes at Centre Point will be made up of eight one-bedroom, three three-bedroom and two four-bedroom properties, including a car park in the basement.
